Translation

Hail Lord Ganesha, son of Girija (Parvati), the source of all auspiciousness and wisdom. Ayodhyadas prays — grant the boon of fearlessness. Hail, hail, hail Lord Shiva Shankar, bestower of happiness, O innocent one. Have mercy on your devotees and keep our minds steadfast. Hail the husband of Girija (Parvati), merciful to the humble. You always protect the saints. The crescent moon adorns your forehead beautifully. Serpent-hood earrings adorn your ears. Fair-bodied, with the Ganga flowing from the head. Wearing a garland of skulls and body smeared with ash. Clad in a tiger skin that looks magnificent. Seeing your splendor, serpents and sages are enchanted. The darling daughter of Mother Maina (Parvati) sits on the left side, presenting a unique splendor. The trident in hand presents a grand spectacle. You always destroy the enemies. Nandi and Ganesha look as beautiful there as lotuses in the middle of the ocean. Kartikeya, Shiva, and Ganesha — no one can describe this splendid sight. Whenever the gods call out for help, the Lord himself removes their suffering. When the demon Taraka caused great havoc, all the gods together prayed to you. You immediately sent Shadanana (Kartikeya), who slew him in the blink of an eye. You destroyed the demon Jalandhara. Your great fame is known throughout the world. You waged war against Tripurasura and mercifully saved everyone. Bhagirath performed intense austerities, and Purari (Shiva) fulfilled his promise. Among givers, none equals you. Devotees always sing your praises. The Vedas sing your glory. You are indescribable, beginningless — your mystery cannot be fathomed. When flames emerged during the churning of the ocean, the burning gods and demons became distressed. You showed mercy and helped by drinking the poison, thus earning the name Neelkanth (blue-throated). When Lord Rama worshipped you, he conquered Lanka and gave it to Vibhishana. Seated amidst a thousand lotuses, Purari (Shiva) then tested (Rama). The Lord hid one lotus. Then the lotus-eyed (Rama) offered his own eye in worship. The Lord showed such rare devotion that it pleased Lord Shiva's heart. Then the Pashupatastra was launched, which none could block or counter. Arrow and sword at the waist look resplendent. You dwell in the hearts of your devotees. Beautiful form adorned with matted locks. It enchants the minds and hearts of sages. Naturally beautiful, captivating, and pleasing. Blissful and delightful for the devotees. In the Satya Yuga too, Lord Shankar was worshipped. Sage Vashishtha worshipped Shiva and attained great bliss. Narada worshipped Shambhu and Bhavani. Shankar is the lord of the entire world. You always sit with Parvati. The Lord created the universe and adorned the entire world. Guide our minds away from worldly desires. O Lord, remover of misery, spread your great fame. By chanting 'Bam Bam Shankar', the eight kinds of poverty are driven away and one is saved. With serpent, tumbi, and drum as companions, you always create a delightful divine play. You protect those who take refuge in you. You always bring auspiciousness and happiness. When Shambhu provides aid, fear is destroyed and darkness is dispelled. Everyone knows about Kashi and Tripura. Your grace upon them brought great happiness. Mother, father, brother — all are you. Without Shankar, we have no one. Shankar is the destroyer of troubles, remover of obstacles, and the cause of all auspiciousness. Yogis, ascetics, and sages meditate on you. Narada and Saraswati bow their heads to you. Whoever sings the Shankar Chalisa enjoys all happiness and attains the supreme state. Ayodhyadas says — the whole world knows Shiva. Whoever daily recites the Shiv Chalisa (attains welfare).
